The Huddle 2.4 Take An Inventory
Hey Huddle family, Happy Belated Thanksgiving!! Hope you all are doing well and enjoying your holiday. We are going to keep it short and sweet this week, but hopefully it still draws upon the deep inside of you. Sooo.... here we go...
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.
Philippians 4:8 NKJV
Where I want us to focus in on is the word "meditate" or "think" at the end of verse 8.
Think on these things.... the things that are true, noble, just, pure, lovely, of good report, virtuous, and praise worthy. That word here in the greek (logizomai) also is used as to give an account of, reckon, make these things the subjects of your thoughts, or to take an inventory of.
Thats seems like an exercise fitting for this holiday. What if we took an inventory of all these things mentioned in verse 8. I wonder, what may come out of making this a common exercise in our life? Now, I know this seems a little off of the beaten path of the "What is the Gospel?" theme we have had this month, but is it really? How better to describe the "Good News" to others, than to show them the evidence?
I was just thinking before writing this, that 15 years ago, I was living in my car, addicted to drugs, self mutilating, hopelessly broken, angry, fearful, and hated God. Today, (big news!) my wife and I are expecting our 3rd child! Wooooo Hoooo! And I'm truly blessed with a great family, church family, friends, job, peace, love, joy, and I have a large inventory of things to thank God for. Join me in sharing with others your inventory amd take an account of the goodness of God to those around you as well. Bless you.
Questions:
1) What is your inventory of the list found in Phil 4:8?
Assignment:
Think on these things. Take an account of the good in your life and take some time to praise Him for it.
